Because the The Exorcist Battlefront 2 loot box debacle started recently, EA’s CFO Blake Jorgensen continues to be out speaking a great deal. One of the most recent quotes of his that hit sites was why Battlefront 2’s microtransactions were not cosmetic, instead of being ‘predatory’ as some US Condition Representatives believe.
Speaking in the 37th Nasdaq Investor Conference on Tuesday, Jorgensen spoke on the condition of Battlefront 2 and recommended there was uncertainty on whether EA would re-put them into action in to the game.
“Clearly we’re very centered on hearing the customer and being aware of what the customer wants and that is evolving constantly. But we are focusing on increasing the progression system. We switched the MTX off being an chance to operate around the progression system within the game. We are ongoing to achieve that. I believe likely to update now and again in a few days.
“Overtime we’ll address the way we may wish to bring the MTX either in to the game or otherwise and just what form we’ll choose to take it into.”
EA/DICE have previously begun modifying the game’s economy and progression, but we will need to wait and find out what further changes they’re getting towards the game and whether microtransactions make their way into the game.
If EA does not restore microtransactions, it may be since they’re searching to keep their account with Disney/Lucasfilm and then create games in line with the The Exorcist IP.
